Hans Wolfgang Sachse

Hans Wolfgang Sachse (born March 17, 1899 in Dresden , † December 20, 1982 in Plauen ) was a German composer .

Life

From 1909 to 1911 he studied at the Thomas School in Leipzig . From 1919 to 1921 he studied composition (with Paul Graener ), counterpoint (with Stephan Krehl ) and opera school (with Otto Lohse ) at the Leipzig Conservatory . At the same time he studied musicology (with Hugo Riemann , Herbert Albert , Arnold Schering ), philosophy and German at the University of Leipzig . After completing his studies, he became a theater conductor in Plauen . From 1927 he worked as a freelance composer, conductor and music teacher. After 1945 he was arrested by the Soviet NKVD and spent several years in special camp No. 1 in Mühlberg . In 1960 he was awarded the art prize of the Karl-Marx-Stadt district (today Chemnitz ) and in 1981 the Patriotic Order of Merit .

His estate is in the Plauen city archive.
