Harriet Andreassen

Harriet Andreassen (born May 6, 1925 in Vikna , † February 10, 1997 in Rælingen ) was a Norwegian politician and trade unionist of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap). She was Minister for Local Affairs and Labor from October 1980 to October 1981.

Life

Andreassen worked for the Norwegian telephone company Televerket from 1943 to 1960 before moving to Stavanger , where she was employed in the office of the Landsorganisasjonen i Norge (LO) union. From 1959 to 1960 she sat in the local parliament of Egersund , before she sat on the city council of Stavanger from 1963 to 1966. From 1967 to 1977 she was a union secretary in the Norsk Arbeidsmandsforbund union . She then returned to LO in 1985. Between 1971 and 1995 she was a member of the local parliament of Rælingen , where she was deputy mayor of the town from 1971 to 1975 and from 1987 to 1991. Between 1971 and 1975 she was a member of the Fylkesting in what was then Akershus Province .

From 1973 to 1977 and again from 1981, Harriet Andreassen was a member of the Ap. Between 1981 and 1985 she was also the leader of her party's women's movement.

On October 3, 1980, she was appointed local minister and labor minister in the Nordli government. After Nordli resigned on February 4, 1981, Andreassen continued to hold office in the Brundtland I government until October 14, 1981 .
