Harry Losee

Harry Walter Losee (born August 29, 1901 in Dayton , Ohio , † December 16, 1952 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American choreographer who was once nominated for an Oscar for best dance directing.

Life

Losee was initially a choreographer in various musical and dance revues on Broadway in the 1930s, such as Keep Moving (1934), At Home Abroad (1935) and The Show Is On (1937). In 1937 he also worked for a film production for the first time , for Tanz mit mir (Shall We Dance, 1937) by Mark Sandrich with Fred Astaire , Ginger Rogers and Edward Everett Horton .

At the Academy Awards in 1938 he was for the scene "Prince Igor Suite" from the ice revue film Thin Ice (1937) by Sidney Lanfield with the Norwegian figure skater Sonja Henie as well as Tyrone Power and Joan Davis in other roles for the only in the years 1936 to 1938 Oscar nominated for best dance directing .

Subsequently, he worked on the production of a few other film productions as well as again with Broadway musical revues.
