The rank of corporal corporal is determined by the Federal President with the order of the Federal President on the rank designations and the uniform of soldiers on the basis of the Soldiers Act .

Authority to command and positions

In the German Armed Forces, the main corporal is a team rank which, according to the Central Service Regulations (ZDv) A-1420/24 "Ranks and Rank Groups", belongs to the rank group of the teams . Because they belong to the rank group of the teams, corporal corporations can not issue orders to anyone solely on the basis of their rank on the basis of § 4 ("Superiors relationship based on rank") of the Superiors Ordinance. Like all team ranks, corporals cannot declare themselves to be superiors according to § 6 ("Superiors relationship based on own declaration") of the Superiors Ordinance, even in emergency situations .

Principal lancers are used, for example, as drivers , as infantrymen , as patrol officers in the security service or as operators of weapons systems (e.g. as a gunner in armored vehicles ), as mechanics , or as an assistant in staff departments . Experienced full-time corporals are sometimes auxiliary instructors or (but then mostly only temporarily according to Section 5 (“Superiors on the basis of special orders”) of the Superiors Ordinance ) group and squad leaders . On the basis of these and similar positions and areas of responsibility, corporal corporations can issue orders to all soldiers who are officially or professionally subordinate in the cases listed in the Superiors Ordinance and within the limits specified there.

Appointment and remuneration

The decisive legal basis for the appointment as a corporal is the Soldier Career Ordinance (SLV) and in addition the Central Service Regulations (ZDv) 20/7. Temporary soldiers , voluntary military service as well as assigned reservists of the career paths of the teams can be appointed as main corporal . Soldiers can be appointed main corporal twelve months after entering service in the Bundeswehr and nine months after being appointed corporal . The rank of corporal, like the rank of corporal and corporal, does not have to be passed. Therefore privates can be promoted directly to the main corporal; Corporal and Lance Corporal can directly to Corporal or upper Corporal be appointed and consequently the rank Hauptgefreiter (even if the rank Stabsgefreiter) "Skip". As a rule, however, Hauptgefreite previously served in the rank of Obergefreiter.

Time soldiers in rank Hauptgefreiter after the Bundesbesoldungsgesetz order (BBesO) with 4 A mA remunerated . Instead, those doing voluntary military service and reservists are given military pay according to the Military Pay Act .

history

Until the change in the Soldier Career Ordinance , one could, under certain conditions, be hired as a soldier in the rank of corporal. The prerequisite was usually completed vocational training with benefits in the planned use.

Equivalent, subordinate and superior ranks

Army , air force and naval uniform bearers lead the rank of corporal . In the armed forces of NATO , the main corporal is equivalent to all ranks with the NATO rank code OR-3. According to the NATO rank code, the rank of the German Armed Forces is, for example, comparable to the Lance Corporal of the armed forces of the United States .

According to ZDv 20/7, the main corporal is classified above the lower-ranking corporal and below the higher-ranking corporal in the career group of the teams .

Remarks

  1. Left: Rank badge on the shoulder flap of the jacket of the service suit for army uniforms of the artillery troops . Middle: Rank badge on the shoulder flap of the jacket of the service suit for Air Force uniform wearers. Right: Ärmelabzeichen on shirt, dark blue a naval uniform carrier ( using series 81er medical service)
  2. cadet , sergeant candidates and NCO candidate will not be in the rank of lance corporal, but instead in an intended for her career non-commissioned officer rank promoted: enlisted in the category of officers to the cadet or midshipman that the category of officers to non-commissioned officer or Maat (first name each for army and air force uniform wearers ; the second for naval uniform wearers ). In practice, the conditions relating to the period of service for promotion to one of the above-mentioned non-commissioned officer ranks , flag junior , midshipman , non-commissioned officer or mate, are usually met at the same time as the corresponding conditions for the appointment as main corporal. Often the corporal of the crew's career group are appointed to the rank of main corporal after twelve months, while soldiers of the other career groups are promoted to a non-commissioned officer rank at the same time. Since the Soldiers' Careers Ordinance allows the change from corporal corporal to other careers , there are also soldiers from other careers who have the rank of corporal.
  3. Active soldiers are therefore usually appointed as a corporal after twelve months of service . For reservists it applies accordingly that the transport can only take place twelve months after entering into a corresponding employment relationship. Reservists and active soldiers are treated on an equal footing insofar as reservists are appointed to this rank no earlier than for soldiers who “remained” in a different military service relationship. In this respect, reservists are treated as if they had served in the Bundeswehr without interruption. For reservists, however, the period of service is usually much shorter overall, since only a relatively few days of military service, for example in the form of military exercises, have to be performed before being appointed to a higher rank.
  4. In practice, "skipping" ranks is very rare. The prerequisite is that the other conditions of the Soldiers' Career Ordinance for the appointment to a higher rank are met, especially with regard to the length of service. Usually teams through the ranks in the usual order corporal , corporal , lance corporal, Corporal , Upper Stabsgefreiter .

  6. For reasons of space, shortened captions. What is meant are army uniforms , air force uniforms and naval uniforms . The hunter-green flat braid shown next to the slip-on loop for army uniforms indicates a soldier in the armored infantry troops , infantry or special forces . In addition to the slip-on loops for the field blouse in the five-color camouflage pattern shown here on the shoulder flaps, there are a number of other types of rank insignia, which are described in more detail in the article → "Rank insignia of the Bundeswehr" .
  7. In the order of the Federal President on the rank designations and the uniform of the soldiers , the sleeve badges are described for naval uniform wearers . For some types of suits for navy uniform wearers , however, according to central service regulation 37/10, diagonal stripes are provided on both epaulettes as for army and air force uniforms .
