history

The house was built in 1830 by the “ finisher in linen and calico ” Dietrich Heine. The best-known resident of the house was the housekeeper and cookbook author Henriette Davidis , who lived here from 1841 to 1848 and, according to tradition , maintained a girls' work school in the building (records only show a women's association that taught "poor female children" in handicrafts and cooking) and taught future housewives the kitchen trade. During this time, her famous Practical Cookbook was published in 1845 . Reliable and self-checked recipes from the common and fine cuisine .

The Heine family later ran a café in the house . In 1982 Rolf Leck bought the building and set up a snack bar under the name Sprockhöveler Treff . He carried out major renovations inside, in the course of which Davidis' old kitchen was eliminated. Under the tenant Nele Sternhagen, the catering is again operated under the name of Haus Heine .

After the catering was closed, the listed Haus Heine was bought by Daniela Voigt in March 2013. After major renovations, a hairdressing salon was built in the former restaurant extension. In the main building, the old café and beer garden have been revived. Live music events take place there at regular intervals.
