Coordinates: 33 ° 25 ′  S , 150 ° 47 ′  E The City of Hawkesbury is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area is 2,775.1 km² and has about 64,600 inhabitants.

Hawkesbury is located in the Sydney Surrounds and borders the metropolitan area of Sydney in the southeast . The area includes 78 hamlets and hamlets, including Bilpin, Clarendon, Central Colo, Colo Heights, Upper Colo, Kurrajong, Mulgrave, Pitt Town, Richmond , Sackville, St Albans, Wilberforce, Windsor and parts of Agnes Banks, Cattai, and Lower Portland Wisemans Ferry. The City Council is located in Windsor on the southeast edge of the LGA.

Hawkesbury City Council has twelve members elected by LGA residents. Hawkesbury is not divided into districts. The mayor of the council is also recruited from among the councilors.
