The Hehuanshan ( Chinese  合歡 山 ) is a 3,416 meter high mountain in the center of the island of Taiwan . In addition to the main peak, there are two other neighboring peaks, the 3,421 meter high eastern tip and the one meter higher northern tip, which are thus higher than the main peak. The mountain, which is part of the Central Mountain Range ( Zhongyang Shanmai ) of Taiwan, is located in the northeast of Nantou County near the border with Hualien County . It is part of the Taroko National Park .

A 3275 meter high pass road , which connects Puli in central Taiwan with the east coast of the island on the Pacific, which is only 35 km from Hehuanshan as the crow flies, runs in the immediate vicinity of the summit. The top of the pass is the highest point in Taiwan that can be reached by road. The road has been the only one traversing Taiwan's central mountain range in an east-west direction since an earthquake that damaged another road in 1999. From here, a path about a kilometer long leads to the summit, where there is a weather station.

Hehuanshan has become a popular destination for locals in recent years. This has to do with the fact that the mountain is one of the few places in Taiwan accessible by car where you can regularly find snow in winter. It is considered to be relatively snow reliable, especially in January and February. There was once even a ski lift on the mountain, but the number of snow days is too few for commercial skiing , so the lift was removed again.
