Heiko Scholz (born January 7, 1966 in Görlitz ) is a German soccer coach and former soccer player. He is currently a member of the Dynamo Dresden coaching team .
Soccer career
player
Through the youth teams of Dynamo Görlitz, Dynamo Dresden and ISG Hagenwerder, his career began in the men's division in 1984 with the GDR top division club Chemie Leipzig . He immediately belonged to the regular team and played all 26 point games, in which he was used either in attack and in midfield. He also completed an apprenticeship as a maintenance mechanic. At the end of the 1984/85 season, Chemie Leipzig was relegated to the GDR League. In the GDR league season 1985/86 Scholz completed 32 point games (11 goals). After Chemie Leipzig had missed the rebound, Scholz moved to local rivals and GDR runner-up 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig at the beginning of the 1986/87 season . It took until the 6th game day until the 1.73 m tall midfielder was used in the league team, but then he played all other point games in the league. On June 13, 1987, Scholz was with 1. FC Lok in the final of the GDR soccer cup, which Leipzig won 4-1 with Scholz as the left midfielder against Hansa Rostock.
In 1986 Scholz was accepted into the squad of the GDR youth national team, for which he played six international matches until 1987. On April 29, 1987, he received his first appointment to the senior national team . In the European Championship qualifier Soviet Union - GDR (2-0) in Kiev, he was substituted on for attacking player Ulf Kirsten in the 55th minute . By 1990 Scholz played seven international matches with the A selection. He was one of the 14 players who made the last match of a GDR selection on September 12, 1990 against Belgium victorious with a 2-0 away win. In 1988 he was used as a substitute in two insignificant qualifying games of the GDR Olympic team ; the GDR had already gambled away participation in the Olympic football tournament in Seoul.
Scholz remained a regular at Lok Leipzig until 1990 and played 86 of 104 point games played in these four seasons. In 1988 he reached the GDR runner-up with the locomotive crew. He also played in 15 national and twelve European Cup games. For the 1990/91 season he went back to Dynamo Dresden, where he played 25 points games in the last GDR league season and 32 in the first Bundesliga season 1991/92 of Dresden. In 1992 he moved to Bayer 04 Leverkusen . Initially, Scholz had great success there too. On June 12, 1993 he was again with Bayer in a cup final. In the final of the DFB Cup, he and his team won the final against Hertha BSC 1-0 as a left midfielder. He was also called up on October 14, 1992 for a game in the German national football team (Germany - Mexico 1: 1). After 75 Bundesliga games in three seasons, Scholz left Bayer Leverkusen and joined runner-up Werder Bremen in the summer of 1995. With 30 and 21 Bundesliga appearances in the 1995/96 and 1996/97 seasons, he was also a player in Bremen. In 1997 he only played the game on the second day of the season and at the beginning of the second half of the season moved to the second division for Fortuna Cologne , where he played nine point games by the end of the season. In the first half of the 1998/99 season he was used for Cologne in eleven second division games, and then in the second half of the season he played nine point games for SG Wattenscheid 09 in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the 1999/2000 season , Scholz ended his career in the third-highest division at Dresdner SC .
Scholz is a member of the traditional Bayer 04 team, with which he still actively participates in games.
Trainer
After his playing career, Scholz made his football teacher license and from January 2003 he was employed as a coaching assistant at MSV Duisburg . In December 2005, towards the end of the 2005/06 season, as well as in November 2008, Scholz took care of the MSV team as an interim coach after each coach was dismissed. However, in 2008 he did not want to take over the post of head coach on his own initiative and so Peter Neururer was hired as the new coach. In April 2009 the MSV announced that Scholz would have to leave the club after more than six years at the end of the season due to cost-cutting measures. Scholz then filed a lawsuit for reinstatement at the end of the season, which he later withdrew because he was able to reach an out-of-court settlement with the club. On December 14th, 2009 he took over the coaching position at TSV Germania Windeck , at that time the front runner in the fifth-class NRW league . In 2011, Germania made it to the regional league and won the Middle Rhine Cup , which ensured it was able to participate in the DFB Cup competition . In the 2011/12 season, Scholz coached FC Viktoria Köln , with whom he was also aiming for promotion to the regional league. In addition, he was able to convince former Bundesliga professionals such as Mariusz Kukiełka and Markus Kurth (as assistant coach) as well as other Germania Windeck players to accompany him to Viktoria. On November 13, 2012 Viktoria and Scholz parted amicably; The reason is said to have been "different views" about the future direction of the club. On October 7, 2013 he signed a contract with 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig , which at the time was still playing in the Regionalliga Nordost ; In 2014 he was relegated with the team to the Oberliga (South) , and in the 2015/16 season he was promoted again. At the end of September 2018, he was released from his head coach position after five years after only eight points were scored from the first nine match days.
On December 10, 2018, regional league team Wacker Nordhausen introduced Scholz as the new coach. Scholz left the Thuringian club a year later and became an interim coach at Dynamo Dresden at the beginning of December 2019 after separating from Cristian Fiél . There he looked after the team until Markus Kauczinski was signed and then became his assistant.
