The Heiligenbach is a 3 km long brook in the district of the town of Künzelsau in Hohenlohekreis in northeastern Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the middle Kocher in the associated village of Kocherstetten from the right and from the east-northeast .

geography

course

The Heiligenbach arises on the narrow strip of plateau between the deeply cut river valleys of the Jagst in the east and the Kocher in the west about 600 meters west of the Künzelsauer Rappoldsweiler Hof . Here sets at about 435  m above sea level. NHN near a fork in the field a ditch left of the road from the mentioned farm in the direction of Mäusdorf . Brook and road run on the valley path of a more and more deepening hollow about 900 meters to the west- south- west to the L 1033 Laßbach -Mäusdorf, which the brook at about 410  m above sea level. Below NHN .

Beyond it runs first west and deepens thereby very quickly in his soon-lined forest underflow sword one. After another 500 meters, it changes back in its old direction below the village of Mäusdorf, which begins on the right shoulder of the slope. From there, a roadway connecting the villages runs down the right slope to Kocherstetten. On this right, sunny slope Eichberg , the vegetation changes earlier to a stone bar landscape, while the creek on the valley floor only after one kilometer down the valley forest at about 280  m above sea level. NHN leaves below Stetten Castle on the left, wooded valley spur.

Soon afterwards the Heiligenbach runs through the northern part of Kocherstetten in a westerly direction and then flows from the right into the middle Kocher , about 300 meters below the mouth of the Erlesbach near the village river bridge and about 400 meters above the knee of the Kocher, where the river flows from North to west course changes.

Catchment area

The Heiligenbach has a catchment area of 2.6 km², which extends in the west-south-west direction of flow about 3.9 km from the Rappoldsweiler Hof Künzelsau to the confluence in Kocherstetten; across it is nowhere even 0.9 km wide. At the short eastern watershed, where they are with heights of 446  m above sea level. Rising highest above the NN , from Rappoldsweiler Hof to the Bühlschlag forest , the border runs to the drainage area of the smaller Totensteigebach , which flows into the Jagst after a run of blades in Unterregenbach . Also on the north from the west bend of the dividing line in the Bühlhau forest there is a long Jagst inflow area outside the long Jagst inflow area, the immediate competitors in the east are first the Buchenbach emerging near Nitzenhausen , then a long Speltbach overflow, only then very briefly and always over the border 420  m above sea level NN on the plateau the small body of water through the closer of the two spherical blades that pulls to the downward cooker. Only then does the border fall faster down the Eichberg to the mouth to below 325  m above sea level. NN .

On the south side, the catchment area boundary runs up the spur of the Schlossberg and then on the crest of the plateau spur east to northeast back to the Rappoldsweiler Hof; From the upper ascent to the Schlossberg to the end, there is competition beyond the Erlesbach, which also runs in the same direction to Kocherstetten to Kocher .

The whole area lies within the boundaries of the city of Künzelsau. Less than an eighth of it is forested, mostly in the Talklinge. The open land, which is mainly on the plateau, is mostly under the plow. The only settlement areas are the Rappoldsweiler Hof (partly) on the watershed to the Jagst, the village of Mäusdorf on the right shoulder of the slope above the upper blade (all of) and Stetten Castle on the spur (about halfway) and part of Kocherstetten at the mouth of the Stove.

geology

The Heiligenbach flows in the natural area of the Kocher-Jagst Plains , a slightly hilly plateau that is furrowed by river valleys dug into the shell limestone , especially by the main rivers Kocher and Jagst. The often karstic limestone here is off the Taleinfälle still lower Keuper , and on summit documents there are islands of by quaternary entstandenem deposit Lösssediment that provide good farmland.

The stream is created in the transition area of such a loess layer around the Rappoldsweiler Hof and the Unterkeuper. At its entry to the blade it reaches the upper one , after its exit from the forest it reaches the middle one and then the Lower Muschelkalk around the edge of the settlement of Kocherstetten . It flows into the floodplain sediment strip that accompanies the course of the Kocher river.

Nature and protected areas

The blade of the brook from the last cross-path through the cut a little before Mäusdorf to a little before the outskirts of Kocherstetten belongs up to the slope shoulders of the Kochertal landscape protection area near Kocherstetten . The wooded section of the Klingengrund is occupied by a natural, ash-shaped mixed deciduous forest, through which the stream, which is 1–4 m wide, with falls and pools, meanders, sometimes accompanied by demolitions and periodic seepage springs on the steep slope, where limestone sinter is sometimes deposited. In the sediment of the sometimes rocky stream there is a lot of gravel, and downwards there are also blocks.

The open Eichberg slope facing the sun is a typical stone bar landscape for this section of the Kochertal, testifying to earlier viticulture, with stone bars, dry stone walls, field hedges and poor grassland.
