from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The homeland and history association "Herrschaft Löwenburg" zu Bad Honnef am Rhein eV is a homeland and history association based in Bad Honnef , a town in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia .

The association was founded on February 5, 1954 by 172 residents of the village under the name of Heimat- und Geschichtsverein Rhöndorf on the initiative of Federal Chancellor Konrad Adenauer, who lives in the Rhöndorf district . Adenauer was the first member and patron of the association. His field of work was the cultivation of the sense of home and the promotion of local history as well as the protection of historical and scenic monuments.

When this was extended to the entire city area on the initiative of the city of Bad Honnef, the association renamed itself to its current name on July 27, 1957. He refers to the historical lordship of Löwenburg , which, among other things, comprised the current area of the city of Bad Honnef and had its main town here and its official seat with the Löwenburg . At that time, the association was also given the task of maintaining the city's historical archive. In the course of the renaming, August Haag became chairman of the association. Later board members and functionaries included Karl Günter Werber and, as executive chairman, Wilhelm W. Hamacher . In 2007/08 the association was threatened with dissolution due to a lack of board members; in response, among other things, the association's statutes were changed.

From 2012 to 2018, the Bad Honnef History Trail, which is divided into five (local) parts, was created as a project of the association .

The association last had around 100 members (as of 2018). Since January 2019 he has his own office in Bad Honnef ( Bergstrasse 3 ).
