Heino Lemmik

Heino Lemmik (born July 21, 1931 in Tallinn ; †  May 14, 1983 there ) was an Estonian composer .

Life

Heino Lemmik studied violin at the Tallinn Music School from 1945 to 1953. In 1959 he completed his studies in composition with Eugen Kapp at the Tallinn State Conservatory .

From 1951 to 1966 Lemmik was a singer in the prestigious State Academic Male Choir of the Estonian SSR . From 1966 to 1971 Lemmik was a lecturer in music theory at the Pedagogical Institute in Tallinn (now Tallinn University ) and from 1971 until his death at the Tallinn State Conservatory.

Compositional work (selection)

Heino Lemmik is particularly known for his numerous compositions for choirs in Estonia and beyond. He also wrote a flute concerto (1959), a string quartet (1968), polyphonic pieces for piano (1974) and three cantatas for orchestra.
