Heinrich Borwin II. , Also Heinrich Burwy II. (* Around 1170 ; † June 5, 1226 ), from the Niklotiden family , was Lord of Mecklenburg from 1219 to 1226 and Lord of Rostock (1225–1226).

Live and act

Heinrich Borwin II. Was a son of Heinrich Borwin I and Mathilde von Sachsen, an illegitimate daughter of Heinrich the Lion . In 1200 he married Christine, whose origin has not been finally clarified. In some sources she is called Christine of Scotland († after May 20, 1248) and is the daughter of King William I of Scotland . In other sources it is Christine of Sweden, a daughter of Sverker II of Sweden . Heinrich Borwin II was a grandson of the Slavic prince Pribislaw . When he died in Güstrow in 1226, the land was administered jointly by his four sons. In 1234 it came to a break and the principality was divided into the first Mecklenburg main state division. This is how the partial principalities (dominions) Werle , Parchim-Richenberg , Rostock and Mecklenburg came into being .
