Seal of Count Heinrich III. from Fürstenberg

Henry III. von Fürstenberg (* around 1308 ; † February 23, 1367 ) was together with his brothers Konrad and Johann the fourth Count of Fürstenberg, whereby only he had one male descendant.

Life

Heinrich comes from the family of the Counts of Fürstenberg . His father was Heinrich II von Fürstenberg , his mother was Verena von Freiburg, the daughter of Count Heinrich von Freiburg .

Around 1345 an inheritance was divided among the three sons of Heinrich II, whereby Konrad received the dominion of Wartenberg, Johann the dominions of Wolfach and Hausach. Heinrich got the home lands on the Baar. The brothers usually appear together in the documents as Counts of Fürstenberg and Landgraves of Baar.

Politically, the three Fürstenberg counts were supporters of the Habsburgs . They very likely also took part in the Battle of Laupen . In the war led by Duke Albrecht II of Austria from 1351-1354 in the wake of the destruction of Rapperswil against the city of Zurich , the Fürstenberg brothers fought on the side of the Habsburgs. In 1360 Heinrich and his brother Konrad signed a five-year service contract with the Habsburg Duke Rudolf IV of Austria . In 1361 Count Heinrich and Konrad von Fürstenberg released the city of Schaffhausen from imperial ban on behalf of Emperor Charles IV . In 1364 Heinrich inherited Badenweiler together with his brother Konrad .

Heinrich was buried in the Neudingen monastery , the Fürstenberg family crypt. When the monastery burned down in 1852, its tomb was destroyed.

Marriage and offspring

Heinrich married Anna von Montfort-Tettnang . 6 children are known from this marriage:
