Caspar Friedrich Heinrich Wedemeyer (born December 11, 1867 in Sudershausen , † April 8, 1941 in Dresden ) was a German sculptor .

Life

Heinrich Wedemeyer studied sculpture at the Royal Art Academy in Dresden under Professor Ernst Julius Hähnel from 1888 to 1896 and from 1891 he was a master student under Robert Diez . At first he worked independently in his studio and then from 1902 was a freelance sculptor in Dresden. Around 1900 he lived and worked in the Loschwitz artist house . He later lived at Schweizer Strasse 7 and had his studio at Nöthnitzer Strasse 44 in Dresden.

Artistic career

Heinrich Wedemeyer was a member of the Grün-Weiß artist group that was created around 1910 . From 1897 he was represented at the international and national art exhibitions in Dresden. In 1934 he exhibited for the last time with the portrait bust of Miss B. and the sculptures Romanian farmer , singer , lute bat and horse tamer . Other well-known works are the bust of the dying , bronze relief Schaffen und Wirken and the bust of Margrit Bienert and the plaster sculpture horse and rider . He was also in charge of the artistic design of the ballrooms in Waldenburg Castle and created the remarkable stucco reliefs there. Together with the Dresden sculptor Rudolf Born , he designed the interior of the crematorium in Forst . Around 1928 he was appointed professor at the Dresden Art Academy.
