Heinrich Wilhelm Eckmann ( January 1712 - July 31, 1777 in Quakenbrück ) was a German organ builder .

Life

Eckmann was born in 1712. He may have completed an apprenticeship with Christian Klausing . In 1742 he built the organ in Engter. After that he apparently worked temporarily for the baroque architect Johann Conrad Schlaun (Emsland and Münster). From 1746 to 1748 he built the organ in the former Jesuit church in Meppen . From 1750 he built the organ of the Clement Church in Münster and the large organ of the Osnabrück Cathedral . The organ of the Stephanikirche in Bremen from 1768 is considered to be his greatest and most important work .

He also worked in East Friesland - and here two of his works are still preserved, namely in 1773 in Amdorf and 1775 in Bagband . He was buried on August 2, 1777 in the St. Sylvester churchyard in Quakenbrück .

Proven works

The size of the instruments is indicated in the fifth column by the number of manuals and the number of sounding registers in the sixth column. A capital “P” stands for an independent pedal, a lowercase “p” for an attached pedal. Italics indicate that the organ in question is no longer or only the prospectus has been preserved.
