Heinz Assmann (born July 19, 1931 in Gelsenkirchen-Buer ) is a German politician ( SPD ) and former member of the Bundestag.

Life and work

After attending school, Assmann completed an apprenticeship as a miner and then worked in this profession. He was involved in trade unions , had been the secretary of IG Bergbau und Energie since 1958 and was head of the trade union for the Ruhr -Nordost / Hamm district based in Hamm in 1963 .

Political party

Assmann has been a member of the SPD since 1948.

MP

Assmann was a councilor for the city ​​of Hamm from 1964 to 2004, where he was temporarily chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. He belonged to the German Bundestag from February 24, 1983, when he replaced the deceased MP Hermann Schmidt via the SPD's state list in North Rhine-Westphalia , until the end of the electoral term (March 1983).
