Heinz Autenrieth

Heinz Autenrieth (born November 25, 1906 in Wanzenau near Strasbourg , † February 29, 1984 in Stuttgart ) was a German lawyer . From 1960 to 1966 he was President of the Synod of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg .

Life and work

After finishing school, Autenrieth studied law at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen . There he became a member of the AV Igel student association . In 1929 he received his doctorate as Dr. jur. After the Second World War , he entered the civil service of the State of Württemberg-Hohenzollern , later Baden-Württemberg , first with the State Secretariat, then with the Ministry of Transport and finally with the Ministry of the Interior . In 1968 he took over the management of the universities department in the Ministry of Culture in Baden-Württemberg until he retired .

Church engagement

Autenrieth was also involved in the church and social sphere. Among other things, he was chairman of the sanatorium and nursing home in Stetten (today Diakonie Stetten eV in Kernen im Remstal ). He was also chairman of the board of trustees of the Evangelical Academy Bad Boll and of the board of trustees of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg .

In 1954 Autenrieth was elected to the 5th State Church Congress of the Evangelical State Church in Württemberg. The MPs there elected him 1st Vice-President. He was also a member of the Council of Elders and the Standing Committee. He was also a member of the 6th Landeskirchentag (from 1964 regional synod) and was elected president there in 1960. At the end of the legislative period he decided not to run again. His successor was Oskar Klumpp in 1966 . From 1955 Autenrieth was also a member of the Synod of the Evangelical Church in Germany , in which he was also vice-president for a time.
