Heinz Günthardt (born February 8, 1959 in Zurich ) is a former Swiss tennis player .

Life

The doubles specialist won a total of five singles tournaments and 22 doubles tournaments, most of them with his Hungarian doubles partner Balázs Taróczy . With this he won the double tournament at Wimbledon in 1985 as the most important victory . Other important successes: victory in the doubles tournament of the French Open 1981 with Balázs Taróczy, victories in mixed doubles with partner Martina Navrátilová at the French Open 1985 and the US Open 1985 . His highest world ranking position was 22nd in singles in 1986 and 3rd in doubles in 1985.

After his career as a tennis player, Günthardt became a tennis coach and looked after Steffi Graf from 1992 until the end of her career in 1999. From February to November 2010 Günthardt coached the Serbian tennis player Ana Ivanović . Since January 2011 Günthardt adviser of the Swiss Tennis Federation Swiss Tennis . Günthardt has been the team principal of the Swiss Fed Cup team since March 1, 2012 .

Today he comments on tennis broadcasts on SRF and Eurosport TV channels . He is married and has three children.
