Helena Třeštíková (* as Helena Böhmová June 22, 1949 in Prague ) is a Czech director and screenwriter.

Life

Helena Třeštíková studied at the film and television faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and began to work as a dramaturge . As a director, she made several documentary films over a long period of time, often several years, and mostly wrote the script.

For a short time Třeštíková was active in politics. She was sworn in on January 9, 2007 as the Czech Minister of Culture in the Topolánek II government , but resigned on January 26.

“Her images of the state of society are a different, quieter form of politics.” In cooperation with the Czech Center Berlin , the Berlin film art cinema Arsenal showed a comprehensive retrospective for Helena Třeštíková in March 2017 with a third of her 50 films of various lengths to date . The filmmaker present at the opening speaks good German.
