Helga Gießelmann (born October 11, 1949 in Isingdorf-Arrode , today in Werther (Westphalia) ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

She is married and has three children.

Helga Gießelmann and her future husband played a key role in the 1968 protests in Bielefeld. Helga Gießelmann has been a member of the SPD since 1970.

In 1985 she became the city ​​of Herford's first equal opportunities officer .

She belonged to the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia from May 31, 1990 to 2010. In the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2005, she was defeated by Rainer Lux (CDU) in the state constituency of Bielefeld II , but was able to enter parliament via the state list. She did not run again for the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2010 .
