Helmut Dockter

Helmut Dockter (born October 9, 1949 in Cologne ) is a German political official . From July 2010 to September 2014 he was State Secretary in the Ministry for Innovation, Science and Research of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life and work

After attending school in Cologne in 1969, which led to his Abitur, Dockter also studied law in Cologne until 1974 . In February 1975 he passed the first state examination in law. From November 1975 to the second state examination in February 1978, he completed his legal clerkship and during this time studied one semester at the German University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer .

After passing the exam, Dockter worked as a freelance lawyer at a Cologne law firm in 1978 and 1979. In 1979 he joined the state administration of North Rhine-Westphalia. In the decades that followed, Dockter held various positions in the Ministry of Finance , the Ministry of Federal Affairs , the Prime Minister and the State Chancellery , taking on positions of increasing responsibility. From April 2008 until his appointment as State Secretary he was Head of Department in the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Research. He retired on September 30, 2014.

Helmut Dockter is married and has two children.

Dockter joined the SPD in 1971. On July 16, 2010 he was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry for Innovation, Science and Research of North Rhine-Westphalia, led by Svenja Schulze ( SPD ).
