The Hemis National Park is located in the Indian Union Territory of Ladakh .

It is named after the place Hemis , where an old Buddhist monastery is located. It ranges from 3300 meters to 6000 meters and covers a total of 4100 square kilometers of various mountain habitats. The park is an important habitat for the rare snow leopard, of which it is estimated that around 30 to 50 animals live in the reserve. Other large predators are the wolf and the brown bear. A pack of Asian wild dogs was even observed in the 1980s . Various mountain grazing animals live in the park, including blue sheep , Siberian ibex , argalis and Ladakh urials . The number of blue sheep is estimated at around 4000 animals. The ibex, on the other hand, are rarer, while only about 300 of the Ladakh Urials live in the park. Long-tailed marmots and red foxes are among the smaller species .
