Hennetalsperre

The Henne is a 22.5 km long orographic left tributary of the Ruhr in the North Rhine-Westphalian Hochsauerlandkreis , Germany .

geography

The hen rises in the forest northeast of Bad Fredeburg on the northeast flank of the Kahlenberg (712.6 m) at an altitude of 660  m above sea level. NHN in the nature reserve headwaters of the Henne . From here the hen flows primarily in northerly directions. It flows through the villages of Oberhenneborn , Niederhenneborn , Landenbeck , Herhagen and Nichtinghausen before reaching the Hennetalsperre named after it at Mielinghausen . Below the dam, the Henne reaches the core town of Meschede and flows there at 259  m above sea level. NHN on the left into the Ruhr .

The hen experiences a height difference of 401 m on its 22.5 km long path, which corresponds to a mean bed gradient of 17.8 ‰. It drains a 96.968 km² catchment area over the Ruhr and Rhine to the North Sea .

The hen flows in protected areas except for local locations. The source is located in the Henne headwaters nature reserve . Then it runs in the Oberlauf der Henne landscape protection area southeast of Oberhenneborn , in the Henne landscape protection area sections from Oberhenneborn to the north of Niederhenneborn , in the Henne landscape protection area and tributaries from south Landenbeck to Herhagen and in the Henne landscape protection area and tributaries from Herhagen to north Nichtinghausen .

Tributaries

The most important tributary of the Henne is the 15 km long Kleine Henne , which flows into the Henne below the Hennetalsperre . With a 39.832 km² catchment area it contributes 41% to that of the hen. Another noteworthy tributary is the 8.3 km long Rarbach . In the following, the tributaries are named in the order from the source to the mouth, which are managed by the Cologne District Government (former Land Survey Office). In each case, the orographic position of the mouth, the length, the size of the catchment area, the altitude of the mouth and the river code are given.
