Henning Christiansen (born May 28, 1932 in Copenhagen ; † December 10, 2008 ) was a Danish composer ; he is considered one of the first Fluxus composers . Christiansen rarely orchestrated his works in the usual way. His music is considered to be experimental music, which partly reaches into the atonal .

Life

From 1950 to 1955 Christiansen studied composition, clarinet and piano at the “Royal Danish Music Conservatory” in Copenhagen. After completing his studies, he worked as a clarinetist and composer from 1955 to 1960. In 1961 he made friends with the members of the "Eks-Skole" in Copenhagen, which was founded by Paul Genres and Troels Andersen in October of the same year as an unconventional alternative to the traditional Copenhagen art academy . This was followed from 1962 onwards, both in Eks-Skol actions, which were oriented towards American happenings, and in Fluxus festivals such as B. in the Nikolajkirche Copenhagen and in the Technical University Aachen.

In 1964 Christiansen took part in the Fluxus event Actions, Agit-Pop, De-Collange in Aachen. In collaboration with Joseph Beuys , Henning Christiansen frequently contributed the music to various Fluxus events in the mid-1960s, including the Manresa actions , which took place in the Schmela Gallery in 1966 , and Joseph Beuys's Eurasienstab . In 1985 Christiansen received a professorship in multimedia at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts , and two years later he was a guest of the DAAD's Berlin artist program . Christiansen lived on the island of Møn .
