Henning Protzmann

Henning Protzmann (born February 12, 1946 in Radebeul ) is a German bass player and rock musician .

Life

Henning Protzmann began taking piano lessons in 1953 and learned the cello as a second instrument from 1959 . From 1960 to 1962 he attended the special class for music in Dresden . This was followed up in 1964 to study at the Dresden University of Music in professional bass , specialized studies in dance music class the same university from 1964 to 1967, and a correspondence course at the Academy of Music in Berlin in the subjects composition and counterpoint . Protzmann played with the Alexanders until 1970 . From 1971 to 1974 Protzmann was a lecturer for bass guitar at the University of Music in East Berlin . During this time he also played bass in the jazz rock band Panta Rhei . In 1973 he also participated in the All Star Band . From 1975 he was bass guitarist and manager of the Karat group , for which he often composed in the early days. He left the group in 1986 due to personal and musical differences with the singer Herbert Dreilich . Then Protzmann mainly worked as a manager (including Michael Barakowski , the singer of Perl ). After the reunification he played bass again, for example with Lift and as part of his project "Jazzin 'the Blues". In 2015 Protzmann launched the band "Panta Rhei II", which mainly covers internationally known jazz artists, but also performs titles by Panta Rhei, Karat and new songs of their own.

In 1983 he was awarded the National Prize of the GDR III with the other members of Karat . Excellent class for art and literature.

Protzmann lives in Berlin-Rahnsdorf.
