Henrich Hansen (born April 6, 1895 in Wester-Ohrstedt ; † 1976 ) was a German teacher, writer, editor and functionary in the propaganda and press system of the NSDAP as well as an SS standard leader . In 1937 he became the personal assistant to the Reich Press Chief Otto Dietrich . His other, varied propaganda tasks included that of the main editor of the school magazine “ Help with! ” Published by the National Socialist Teachers' Union (NSLB) and published in millions . ".

Life

Career until 1933

After attending the teachers' seminar , Hansen worked as a freelance cultural and political author for various newspapers until the beginning of the First World War . He participated in the First World War as a war volunteer and then passed his exams as a primary school teacher. Until the end of the 1920s he worked as a drawing teacher at elementary schools in Schleswig-Holstein ; he also worked as a writer and artist. Until 1927 he was a supporter of the SPD , but at the same time also the leader of a resident army .

From 1930 he became increasingly involved in the NSDAP and left school in the early 1930s to focus on his journalistic work for the party. In 1931 he was given a permanent position at the "Kieler Zeitung", which was close to the National Socialists at the time, and in 1932 at the NSDAP district newspaper "Der Volkskampf". At the beginning of 1933 he was promoted to editor of the NSDAP regional newspaper "Nordische Rundschau". In addition, he assumed the functions of the main editor of the "Schleswig-Holstein School Newspaper" and the magazine of the National Socialist Teachers' Association (NSLB) "Art and Youth".

time of the nationalsocialism

Hansen, who joined the NSLB and the NSDAP on January 1, 1933 (membership number 3.548.111), quickly made a career during the Nazi era . He was initially a Gaupressewart in Schleswig-Holstein , came to the Reich administration of the NSLB in Bayreuth in 1934 and was appointed head of their main office for press and propaganda in the main office for educators. At the same time he worked from 1935 to 1937 as Gauamtspresseleiter of the Bavarian Ostmark . In 1937 he became the personal assistant to the Reich Press Chief Otto Dietrich in the Reich Press Office of the NSDAP, was responsible for magazines and there headed the main press and propaganda department in the main office for educators; until 1940 under the designation Reichshauptstellenleiter, then as Reichsamtsleiter, who was also responsible for personnel issues. In addition, from 1937 he was the chief editor of the school magazine “ Help with! ”, Which has a circulation of up to five million copies per month . “An important function in the system-compliant indoctrination of students. In 1937 he declared the integration of young people into the German "community front" as the primary propagandistic goal of the magazine. His contribution "Volksgemeinschaft - Wehrgemeinschaft - Blutsgemeinschaft" in the "Hamburger Lehrerzeitung" in 1937 was linked to the student competitions "Volksgemeinschaft - Wehrgemeinschaft" from 1936 and "Volksgemeinschaft - Blutsgemeinschaft" from 1937, which were advertised in "Help with!" the main office for education in the NSDAP , the propaganda ministry and the racial office of the party .

From 1938, the focus of his 30 own contributions was propaganda for Hitler's “greatness” and his decisions. In 1939, together with Johann von Leers , he wrote a book on German school and educational history entitled “The German Teacher as a Creator of Culture”, which is characterized by strongly anti-Semitic passages. There is talk of "waves of soul Jewry" or of spiritual activity in "racial forms", of which the "spiritually-Jewish monastery schools" are named as an example.

During the Second World War, Hansen took on other tasks for Nazi propaganda. He worked as Reichsfeldsleiter for "military education" in the NSLB and was a liaison officer of the main office for educators to the high command of the armed forces (OKW). Hansen, who had already been taken on as SS-Obersturmbannführer ( SS-Obersturmbannführer) (SS-No. 323.764) in 1939 , headed the educational advisory staff at OKW and was the superior of the school and liaison officers to the Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS. In 1941 he became an SS Standartenführer . Another promotion within the SS proposed by his boss Otto Dietrich, who was himself an SS-Obergruppenführer , failed, however. In addition, he did not “actively and energetically” advocate the ideas of the SS, as it was said in an assessment sent to the head of the SS Personnel Office . In addition, he used to have sympathy for the SPD and lead a problematic private life.

Hansen planned and carried out extensive military educational propaganda campaigns between 1939 and 1944. As the main editor of the school newspaper “Help with!”, He initiated school competitions such as “Seafaring is not necessary” and “The fight in the east”. The May / June 1942 issue of the May / June 1942 issue of the “The Struggle in the East” competition suggested a kind of synopsis of anti-Jewish thought figures and Bolshevism - one of the main questions of the competition was: “What do you know about Bolshevism, about Judaism in the Soviet Union and in the world? "

After 1945

For the period after 1945 there is no information on Henrich Hansen in the literature. Only his letter of condolence for his long-time boss Otto Dietrich, who died in November 1952, is quoted: "To have worked under him will always be an honor."

Hansen's estate is kept in the Nordfriesland district archive. In the foreword and the information in the local finding aid there is a note that Hansen, according to his own statements, worked as a teacher in Ostenfeld from 1949 and also wrote short stories for the " Husumer Nachrichten " from the 1950s . After ten years of voluntary work as a district archivist, Hansen was appointed to the district committee on November 30, 1973 by District Administrator Dr. Petersen said goodbye. According to his own statements, he saw himself as a writer at that time.

When Hansen died at the end of 1976, the “Husumer Nachrichten” wrote in its obituary: “He had a lot of things, from an unusual journalist, from a sensitive novelist who was widely read in his 'high time', from an artistically gifted teacher, from someone political organizer, even something of a staunch officer.
