Henriette Kjær

Henriette Kjær (born May 3, 1966 in Elsted near Aarhus ) is a former Danish politician of the Conservative People's Party .

Life

Henriette Kjær is the daughter of the journalist Flemming Anton Kjær and the housewife Karen Nielsen. She attended the Brobjergskolen in Aarhus until the 9th grade (1982) and finished her schooling in Viby (near Aarhus) at the grammar school in 1985. In 1993 she completed her studies at the “Biblioteksskolen” in Aalborg as a librarian . Since 1988 she also worked for the newspaper Jyllands-Posten .

Henriette Kjær was the leader of the Conservative Youth in her hometown of Aarhus.

From September 21, 1994 to September 15, 2011 she was a member of the Folketing .

As Minister of Social Affairs and Minister for Gender Equality from 2001 to 2004, she appointed an inter-ministerial steering group to develop a new gender equality strategy. Each ministry was given the task of setting its own gender equality goals for the period up to 2006. In 2004 the ministerial office was taken over by Eva Kjer Hansen .

From August 2, 2004 to February 16, 2005, she was Minister for Family and Consumer Protection in Anders Fogh Rasmussen's cabinet . She had to resign in 2005 after the Kjær couple became aware of private financial irregularities.

From 2005 to 2008 Kjær was political spokeswoman , transport and economic policy spokeswoman and finally, between 2008 and 2011, chairwoman of the parliamentary group of the Conservatives. On January 25, 2011, she gave up all political offices and announced that she would leave Danish politics at the end of the legislative period . Previously, a court had finally convicted Henriette Kjær and her husband for private credit debts.
