Henriette Voigt , b. Kuntze (born November 24, 1808 in Leipzig ; † October 15, 1839 there ) was a German pianist and salonnière .

Life

She received piano lessons from Karl Gottlieb Reissiger and Ludwig Berger in Leipzig and Berlin. In 1830 she married the Leipzig bank correspondent Carl Voigt. In the same year he opened a silk and yarn store (Berger & Voigt). Even after their wedding, Henriette Voigt gave piano lessons.

For Clara Wieck it was at times an important point of reference, which was reflected, among other things, in the dedication of the “Soirées Musicales” op. Above all , she took a great interest in the musical work of Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy , Ludwig Schuncke and Robert Schumann . Ludwig Schuncke took care of her when he fell ill with tuberculosis and eventually died. In 1839 she developed tuberculosis herself and died in October of the same year.

Henriette Voigt kept a diary for several years, which provided an interesting insight into the Leipzig musical life of her time.

Schumann dedicated his piano sonata in G minor op. 22 to her, and Mendelssohn his song without words in F sharp minor, which he published with some changes as the Venetian Gondola Song in the second volume of his songs without words as op. 30 No. 6. Ludwig Schuncke, Wilhelm Taubert , Ludwig Berger and Clara Schumann also dedicated compositions to her.
