Henry H. Chambers

Henry H. Chambers (born October 1, 1790 in Kenbridge , Lunenburg County , Virginia , †  January 24, 1826 ibid) was an American politician of the Democratic Republican Party , who represented the state of Alabama in the US Senate .

Chambers graduated from William and Mary College , Williamsburg in 1808 ; In 1811 he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Medical School in Philadelphia . The following year he moved to Madison , Alabama, where he established himself as a doctor. In several Indian Wars he worked as a surgeon.

After returning from the military, Chambers lived in Huntsville and began to get involved in politics. In 1819 he was a member of the Alabama Constitutional Convention, and the following year he was a member of the state's House of Representatives . In 1821 and 1823 he ran unsuccessfully for the office of governor .

In 1824 Henry Chambers, who was part of the Jackson wing in his party, was elected to the United States Senate for Alabama. He took up his mandate from March 4, 1825, but died at the beginning of the following year when he wanted to leave his hometown on the way back to Washington .
