In 1951 he had already achieved such a level of performance that he was used in two international matches in the Polish national relay. Although he lost both fights against the Czech Zdenek Petrina and the Finn Risto Luukkonen on points, he already showed that he has a lot of talent for boxing. In 1952 he became Polish runner-up in the flyweight division. However, it was used at the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki . Here he met Edgar Basel from the Federal Republic of Germany in his first fight and was clearly defeated by 3-0 judges' votes.

He won against the silver medalist at the 1952 Olympic Games Edgar Basel on points, then won over the Soviet champion Anatoly Nikolajewitsch Bulakow and cleared the Czech Frantisek Majdloch on points in the final battle , making him European champion .

Two years later, at the European Championship in 1955 in Berlin (West), Henryk Kukier won over Paul Schnugg from Austria and Derek Lloyd from England . In the semifinals, however, he was defeated by Edgar Basel with 3-0 judges' votes and thus took 3rd place.

Henryk Kukier then started at the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 , but was eliminated here in the preliminary round after losing points to the Australian Warner Batchelor. It was similar for him at the 1957 European Championships in Prague . Here, too, he lost his first fight against Peter Davies from Wales and was eliminated. At the European Championships in 1959 in Lucerne , Henryk Kukier won his first fight against Mike Cushow from England, but was then eliminated by a point defeat against Mircea Dubrescu from Romania and was again without a medal.

At the end of his career, he also started at the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome . Here he also lost his first fight against the German European champion of 1957 and 1959 Manfred Homberg and was eliminated.

During his career, Henryk Kukier played a total of 35 international matches. He won 25 fights. In total, he played 256 fights in his career, winning 234 fights, boxing once and losing only 21 fights. After finishing his career, he was a coach for many years at his last boxing club, Avii Swidnik.
