Herbert Juhnke
Herbert Juhnke (born February 19, 1932 in East Pomerania ; † June 11, 2008 in Kiel ) was a German classical philologist .
Life
Herbert Juhnke was in 1963 at the University of Kiel with a thesis on The poetic self-image of Horace and Propertius doctorate . His habilitation took place on June 19, 1968 with the text Homerisches in the Roman Epic of Flavian times (published in Munich 1973). From 1972 to 1997 Juhnke was C 3 professor for classical philology, especially Latin studies , at the University of Kiel. He was known for being able to communicate fluently in Latin just like his academic teacher Erich Burck .
