Herbert Müller (born November 15, 1944 in Memmingen ) is a Bavarian politician of the SPD .

Life

After secondary school with the completion of secondary school, Herbert Müller attended art school. He became a subject teacher for art education and handicrafts. In addition to his partisan work, Müller is active in the Bund Naturschutz and the Evangelical State Synod in Bavaria. He is married and has two children.

Herbert Müller has been a member of the SPD since 1971 and was a city councilor in his hometown of Memmingen from 1972 to 2020. He is the initiator of the Memming Freedom Prize 1525 .

For his party, he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament from June 2, 1984 to September 2008 and, until May 2001, Parliamentary Managing Director of the SPD parliamentary group. In 1984 he moved into parliament for the retired Alfons Braun . In the Bavarian state parliament he represented the parliamentary group in the committee for environmental protection and consumer protection and in the investigation committee "game meat scandal" of the state parliament. Until April 5, 2006, Müller was environmental and consumer protection spokesman for the parliamentary group, when the parliamentary group elected the Munich SPD deputy Ludwig Wörner as his successor. During his term of office he was, among other things, deputy chairman of the investigative committee "Game Meat Scandal". He was no longer available for election to the state parliament in Bavaria in 2008 .

Honors

Müller was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit and the Bavarian Constitutional Medal in gold. In April 2020 the Memmingen city council decided unanimously to make Müller an honorary citizen.
