Hermann Egner

Hermann Xaver Egner (born December 12, 1947 in Lörrach ; † April 25, 2005 in Schopfheim ) was a German trombonist and composer in the field of brass music . He worked as the association conductor of the Alemannic Music Association and from 1992 to 2000 was chairman of the Youth Wind Instruments of the Association of German Brass Music Associations .

Egner completed his military service in the Army Music Corps Ulm and then studied music, history and mathematics at the Lörrach University of Education ; his teachers in conducting , trombone and harmony were Gerd Watkinson and Gerbert Mutter . He later studied with Willy Schneider at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik Trossingen and took private lessons with Bruno Gutknecht, solo trombonist of the Basel Symphony Orchestra .

Egner was then employed as a music and mathematics teacher in Schopfheim, later as rector . He led the local school choir with around 90 members and taught at the state seminar for teacher training as a music didactics instructor. As a brass music conductor, he led the Musikverein in Höllstein , the Stadtmusik Zell im Wiesental and the Roche wind orchestra in Basel for many years .

His compositions and arrangements include numerous works for symphonic wind orchestra as well as compositions for choir and wind orchestra.
