Hermann Fischer

Hermann Fischer (born March 15, 1928 in Kranlucken ) is a German organ researcher and author and was director of studies in Aschaffenburg .

life and work

Fischer studied biology, chemistry and geography at the University of Würzburg . From 1953 to 1990 he taught at the Friedrich-Dessauer-Gymnasium in Aschaffenburg, where he was most recently director of studies . At first he devoted himself intensively to organ building in Mainfranken , later also in the whole of southern Germany. He published numerous books and essays on the history of Franconian and Swabian organ building, most of which were written in collaboration with Theodor Wohnhaas . From 2004 to 2007 Fischer published 13 articles on organ builders in Music in Past and Present (2nd edition). In total, over 300 publications on organ studies have appeared under his name or as a co-author.
