Hermann Huppen (born July 17, 1938 in Bévercé ) is a Belgian comic artist and writer. He only operates under his first name and is therefore only known as Hermann .

The best known of his works are the series Comanche , Andy Morgan and Jeremiah .

Career

Hermann was born in Bévercé near Liège in 1938. After studying furniture design, he first worked as an interior designer . In 1964 he wrote and drew his first comic for Spirou magazine . Greg recognized his talent and asked him to continue working as a cartoonist. In 1966 he began with Greg as a copywriter on the Andy Morgan series , which appeared in Tintin magazine. 1969 was added as another series Comanche .

In 1977 he began to write his own stories and realized the very successful series Jeremiah , which is still published today. In 1984 the series The Towers of Bos-Maury , set in the Middle Ages , was added.

In addition to the series, there were many individual volumes, including the now filmed volume Die Bluthochzeit .

In 2016 Hermann was awarded the Grand Prix de la Ville d'Angoulême .
