Hermannia Kassel - last entered in the club register as Sportverein Hermannia 1906 e. V. - is a sports club from Kassel , which gained national fame mainly through its soccer team.

history

The club founded on March 4, 1906 as Casseler FV Hermania was initially not far from the Henschel works , which is why it was also known as the "Henschel Club" for a long time. After the end of the Second World War , former members of the clubs Hermannia Kassel, Tuspo Henschel Kassel and Eintracht Kassel founded the municipal sports association SG Kassel-Nord . In October 1948 this took on the name Hermannia Kassel again.

The Hermannia had their greatest successes in the 1930s and 1940s when they belonged to the top division in the Gauliga Hessen and Gauliga Kurhessen , and in the 1960s and 1970s in the top Hessian amateur league. Most recently, they drew attention to themselves when they reached the first main round of the DFB Cup in 1981/82 . After that, the club went through an economic and sporting downturn, which reached its preliminary low point with the descent of the first soccer team to the district league B in 2004. In late summer 2009, the club, which has been at the Nordstadt Stadium on Struthbachweg in the north of Kassel since 1956 and also offered other sports, finally withdrew its teams from ongoing match operations due to ongoing economic problems. FC Hermannia 09 Kassel has been participating in games since 2010, and in the 2016/17 season in the district league A Kassel Group 2.
