Hermes Award
The Hermes Award is the Hannover Messe's technology innovation prize , which was presented for the first time in 2004 . With 100,000 euros in prize money, it is one of the most highly endowed technology competitions in the world.
Procedure
The deadline for applications is February. The award ceremony will take place in April as the dramaturgical highlight of the opening day of the fair. The presence of the German Chancellor and other state guests creates a highly official festive framework. In 2008 the jury consisted of six media personalities and four representatives from the government and research sectors.

It is awarded for innovative technical products and processes that meet the four test criteria:
- Technological innovation level
- economics
- presentation
- Reality test in industrial application

- 2019 NanoWired GmbH from Gernsheim for KlettWelding Tape (a Velcro fastener for a fast, permanent and environmentally friendly connection at room temperature for electronics production)
- 2018 Endress + Hauser Messtechnik GmbH + Co. KG from Weil am Rhein for iTHERM Bäumenens TM371 (a hygienic compact thermometer with a self-calibrating sensor)
- 2017 Endress + Hauser Wetzer GmbH + Co. KG from Nesselwang (Bavaria), for Trust Sens (self-calibrating temperature measuring device)
- 2016 Harting AG & Co. KG , Espelkamp, for MICA (Modular Industry Computing Architecture)
- 2015 Wittenstein AG for Galaxie , a new type of gearbox
- 2014 SAG GmbH for the product iNES, a distribution network management with which a conventional low-voltage network can be converted into a smart grid
- 2013 Bosch-Rexroth AG from Lohr am Main in Bavaria for the Open Core Engineering project
- 2012 PHOENIX CONTACT GmbH & Co. KG from Blomberg for a lightning current measuring system LM-S, which monitors in wind power plants when and in what size a lightning strike.
- 2011 Krautzberger GmbH from Eltville for an innovative steam spray process. The compressed air currently used for spraying is replaced by steam.
- 2010 LPKF Laser & Electronics AG from Garbsen for the LDS process, which applies conductor structures to three-dimensional plastic components.
- 2009 Voith Turbo Wind GmbH & Co. KG for a mechatronic drive system for highly dynamic speed control in wind turbines
- 2008 Zenergy Power GmbH from Rheinbach together with Bültmann GmbH from Neuenrade for the development of an induction heater with 80% efficiency
- 2007 Bayer Technology Services from Leverkusen for a new laser technology for product authentication
- 2006 Harting Mitronics from Biel (Switzerland) for an RFID transponder that can even be used in the vicinity of metals and liquids
- 2005 ifm electronic from Essen for an innovative distance sensor
- 2004 eStop from Grafrath near Munich for a mechatronic wedge brake (see Bernd Gombert )
