Hermi Lechner (born Hermine Karner , born February 3, 1930 in Graz ) is an Austrian Wienerlied interpreter and lyricist.

Life

She came to Vienna as a child and grew up there. She studied singing, piano and accordion at the Conservatory of Music and Performing Arts . With a fellow student, she founded the Alpine duo Karner in 1948 . This was followed by radio recordings on the Rot-Weiß-Rot transmitter , in which she worked with the cabaret artists Fritz Eckhardt and Karl Farkas . In 1950 Walter Lechner joined the duo, which was therefore converted into the elite trio . This line-up was also successful in Germany with record contracts and radio recordings.

In 1951 she married Walter Lechner, with whom she wrote Viennese songs. She became known under the name Hermi Lechner. In 1960, the couple opened the artist bar Lechner-Stüberl in Vienna's Spitalgasse, where prominent Viennese frequented, later took over the Heuriger from Franz Schier in Nussdorf and the canteen of Wien-Film in Sievering . Hermi and Walter Lechner also performed singing in these bars.

After the death of her husband in 1974, Hermi Lechner initially worked alone as a Wienerlied interpreter, master yodeler and above all as a lyricist. In 1977 she married the emcee and magician Franz Fasching, with whom she then performed together as the Viennese duet Hermi Lechner-Franz Fasching and recorded records.

Hermi Lechner was President of the Association of Austrian Text Authors and received the title of Professor.
