Aid society

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The aid society is a term from the Geneva Conventions and their additional protocols. It essentially refers to the national Red Cross or Red Crescent Societies, but also other aid organizations that are recognized by their state as so-called "voluntary aid society" within the meaning of the Geneva Conventions (I. Geneva Convention, Art. 26).

In Germany , the German Red Cross , the Malteser Aid Service and the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe are recognized as national aid organizations by the law on the German Red Cross and other voluntary aid organizations within the meaning of the Geneva Red Cross Agreement (DRK Law, DRKG).
