University radio in Poland

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The university radio stations in Poland can be divided into two groups. On the one hand in the network of the “Polish Academic Broadcasters” PRA and on the other hand in the independent broadcasters outside this association.

PRE

A large number of Polish university radio stations are part of a network of the “Polish academic radio stations” ( Polish : Polskie Rozgłośnie Akademickie , PRA ), an agreement between the editors-in-chief of approved student radio stations . This group was founded in 2003 in Rzeszów by eight Polish student radio stations on the radio network. The aim of the agreement is to integrate broadcasters in Poland through a common strategy of programming, promotional and commercial activities. The current 1st chairman of the PRA is Andrzej Blahaczek, editor-in-chief of Radio Centrum in Rzeszów.

In their area, 5.4 million potential listeners are reached terrestrially, including over 900,000 students. You can also receive all PRA channels worldwide via the internet via live stream. Some are also fed into the local cable network.

The radio stations act within the framework of the network.

Music formats

The stations sometimes have very different music formats, but generally play alternative music outside the mainstream, mostly rock . Most of the stations do not play any or hardly any hits that you would otherwise hear on other Polish radio stations. The coverage is mostly limited to news and student life. Only some of the stations also have an urban character. The oldest student radio in Poland is the Radiosupeł of the Medical University of Białystok, founded in 1951 , which, however, is not a member of the PRA .
