Horst Heintze (Romanist)

Horst Heintze (born June 29, 1923 in Naumburg (Saale) ; † May 25, 2018 in Schnepfenthal ) was a German Romanist and Italianist .

life and work

Heintze studied from 1946, was a student of Victor Klemperer from 1948 and received his doctorate in 1952 at the University of Halle with the work Hippolyte Taine's Development. An investigation into the scientific theory of history and literature by H. Taine . He went to Berlin with Klemperer, was a lecturer in Halle from 1954 to 1963 and completed his habilitation in 1965 at the Humboldt University in Berlin with Rita Schober with the font Dante Alighieri. Citizens and poets between the Middle Ages and the modern era (Berlin / Weimar 1965, 1981). From 1975 to 1988 Heintze was Professor of Romance Philology at the Humboldt University. He last lived in Schnepfenthal-Rödichen . At the age of 94, he published his memoirs in 2017 under the title Rhymed and Unrhymed. Studies and Memories of a Romanist .

His academic legacy is located in the "Romanist Archives" in the Augsburg University Archives .
