Horst Seidler

Horst Seidler (born July 26, 1944 in Vienna ) is an Austrian anthropologist . He taught at the University of Vienna and was Dean of the Faculty of Life Sciences in 2008 .

Life

Horst Seidler has worked at the Institute for Human Biology at the University of Vienna since 1968 , and has been Professor of Human Biology since 1984 . From 1981 to 2000 he was head of the Institute for Anthropology.

From 1974 to 1990 Seidler was a research assistant with Andreas Rett in the department for developmentally disordered children at the Neurological Hospital Rosenhügel .

His work focuses on human genetics , race and population genetics and hominid evolution . In cooperation with applied psychology, he was able to achieve important scientific findings in the areas of morphology, constitutional theory and typology.

His research on Ötzi in South Tyrol , on the mummies of the Inca Cloud People in Peru , as well as his excavations and related conflicts in Ethiopia are well known .
