Horst Zedel (born May 15, 1930 ) is a former soccer player from the GDR .

The winger began his football career at BSG Motor Grimma . In 1952 he moved to the GDR league for BSG Empor Wurzen . He played for Wurzen until the end of 1954 and scored 35 goals.

In November 1954, the upper league team of BSG Empor Lauter was delegated from the Ore Mountains to the Baltic Sea to Rostock. Twelve players from Lauter went to the Baltic Sea and from there formed the core of SC Empor Rostock . Since this number of players was not sufficient for the season, however, more players were sought. One of them was Zedel, who came to the Baltic Sea from Wurzen at the turn of the year. By the end of the season he played eleven times and scored two goals. In the 1956 season, Zedel scored seven goals in 25 games and was Empors' top scorer. At the end of the season he rose with Empor Rostock from bottom of the league table. In the following second division season he completed 24 of the 26 games, scored ten goals and thus contributed to the direct resurgence. In the 1958 season he played 17 times and scored two goals. 1959, in his last season at Empor, he only came to three missions.

During his time with the Hanseatic League, Zedel played 16 times in the FDGB Cup , scoring five goals. In 1955 and 1957 he reached the final and was in the starting eleven of the final game. He didn't win a title. In 1955 the final went 2: 3 after extra time against SC Wismut Karl-Marx-Stadt and in 1957 lost 1: 2 after extra time against SC Lok Leipzig .

After 67 major league and 24 league games for SC Empor Rostock, Zedel still played in the II. League for BSG Motor Warnowwerft Warnemünde from 1959 .
