The Hovet (former name Johanneshovs Isstadion ) is a multifunctional hall in the Swedish capital Stockholm in the Johanneshov district. The hall belongs to Globen City , which includes the Ericsson Globe and the Tele2 Arena . In addition to the home games of the ice hockey clubs AIK Ishockey and Djurgården Hockey , concerts and other major events are held in the arena. In addition, the fourth-class Skarpnäck AIK plays some of their home games at Hovet. The arena officially offers 8,300 seats for ice hockey games, and up to 9,800 spectators for concerts.

history

The Johanneshovs Isstadion was opened on November 4, 1955 with an international match between Sweden and Norway , which the home team won 7-2. For the ice hockey world championship in 1963 , the arena was renovated and covered from 1961 to 1962. The design for it came from the architect Paul Hedqvist . In 1989 the hall got its current name Hovet . In 2002 a comprehensive renovation took place with the renewal of the seats and the addition of a restaurant area.

Ice hockey clubs that used to play their games at Hovet are IK Göta , IFK Stockholm , Stureby SK , Mälarhöjden / Västertorp, Brinkens IF , AC Camelen , Karlbergs BK , Årsta Södra IF, Huddinge IK , Danderyd / Täby Hockey , Lidingö HC and Hammarby Hockey . In addition, IF Cobran and Reymersholms IK played some preparatory games in the Johanneshovs Isstadion.
