The Howardian Hills are an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB - Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty ) in the county of North Yorkshire in the region of Yorkshire and the Humber in England , UK .

The hills take their name from the noble Howards family who probably owned large areas in the hills and whose splendid country estate, Castle Howard , sits on the edge of the hills.

From Brandsby to Coneysthorpe , numerous villages lie along a line of natural spring wells.
