Hu Xiaoyuan
Hu Xiaoyuan (* 1977 in Harbin in the province of Heilongjiang ) is a Chinese conceptual artist . She creates videos , performances and installations .
life and work
Hu Xiaoyuan graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts with a degree in design in 2002 .
She works with different media. Video is one of them. For her objects, drawings and installations, she prefers materials that have traces of life in them and that have personal feelings behind them. Her motifs mostly have to do with her everyday environment or family history, such as threads, hair, mirrors, clothes, keys, trousseau pillows and old furniture.
One of the themes of Hu Xiaoyuan's work is the interrelationships between contrasting states. For example love / injury, life / death, existence / absence, or useful and useless.
