“To my enthusiasm, the jury of the Wolfgang Hahn Prize Cologne 2016 decided on Huang Yong Ping. His three-decade career began in China in the 1980s. In the 1990s he continued and expanded it in Europe and later worldwide. He traversed many countries and cultures, and his work also traversed a fantastic variety of territories and times. His oeuvre is a unique achievement, known for its often awe-inspiring dimensions, astounding iconography, and rigorous intellectuality. It has changed our way of looking at things as well as our perception of how we exist in history and the world. He is at the same time a masterly sculptor and a herald of our time. "
