Hugh Charles Boyle (born October 8, 1873 in Johnstown , Pennsylvania , USA , † December 22, 1950 in Pittsburgh ) was Bishop of Pittsburgh .

Life

Hugh Charles Boyle attended St. Vincent College in Latrobe . From 1891 Boyle studied Catholic theology and philosophy at St. Vincent Seminary in Latrobe. He received on 2 July 1898, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Boyle became a curate at St. Aloysius Church in Wilmerding . In 1903 he became secretary to the Bishop of Pittsburgh. Hugh Charles Boyle was pastor of St. Mary Magdalene Parish in Homestead from 1916 to 1921 .

On June 16, 1921, Pope Benedict XV appointed him . to the Bishop of Pittsburgh. The bishop emeritus of Pittsburgh, John Francis Regis Canevin , donated him episcopal ordination on June 29 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Harrisburg , Philip Richard McDevitt , and the Bishop of Altoona , John Joseph McCort .
