Location of the Hugo Junkers barracks in Schleswig-Holstein |
The Hugo Junkers barracks is located in Schleswig-Holstein in the municipality of Alt Duvenstedt . The barracks was named after the German engineer and entrepreneur Hugo Junkers . Very close to the barracks, there is a location shooting and a training area . Air transport squadron 63 stationed in the barracks uses the Hohn air base for its flight operations.
As part of the realignment of the Bundeswehr and the associated stationing concept in 2011 , a closure of the property was planned. In August 2019, the Federal Ministry of Defense announced that the location would not be given up due to the trend reversal in terms of personnel and material. The navy and army want to use the location jointly with 120 posts in the future.
