Hugo Walleitner

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hugo Walleitner (* 1909 in Bad Ischl ; † 1982 ) was an Austrian prisoner and survivor of the Flossenbürg concentration camp .

Life

Walleitner was a prisoner in the Flossenbürg concentration camp for over three years. After his imprisonment and suffering in the concentration camp, he published a factual report about this time and describes "with clear openness the naked truth of this misery" the life and millions of deaths behind the scenes of the Third Reich . He does not go into further detail in his book on the presumably homosexual reasons for his imprisonment in the concentration camp. The report is illustrated by 34 own pictures. Walleitner's talent for drawing probably also made it easier to survive through small privileges and perks in the harsh camp life.
